Department of English primarily formulates a platform for professional and cognitive learning. Dedicated to the intellectual curiosity, analytical dexterity and creative thinking of its students, English Department at PCIU fosters advanced reading, technical writing, media& presentation skills. Organizing contributory seminars, discussion programs, cultural festivals as well as inviting distinct personalities, veteran academicians, are constant efforts of the department that help the students to explore potentials and to raise their voices. English courses provide students of all academic interests with a strong foundation in critical and expressive skills. Adjunct faculty members, contributing to the betterment of learners, are acclaimed scholars and researchers. B.A (Hons) in English
B.A (HONS) IN ENGLISH combine your love of English language and literature, and develop a range of professional skills with this highly flexible English degree. Bringing together the study of literature from the Renaissance to the present day with the study of language in social and cultural contexts, you’ll gain specialist skills in analysis, close reading and writing. Your English degree will also develop transferable skills that can be adapted in many ways, ensuring you’ll be prepared to succeed in many careers that need good, thoughtful communicators.
M.A. in English
The Department of English at Port City International University offers graduate studies leading to an M.A. degree. The department requires completion of a minimum of 30 credits of course work in one of the three disciplines—literature, linguistics, and TESOL. Students can take a thesis of 6 credits if they want after passing the qualifying exam which they should take after completing 30 credits of course work. In addition, students are required to have a reading proficiency in at least one foreign language (the specific language to be determined by the student’s major area of concentration).
