Department of Natural Science

Department of Natural Science (NSC) serves the knowledge of natural philosophy that dominating the development of the physical universe. NS is the framework within which Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, and History are taught and offers courses on need basis of Arts, Business, and Science & Engineering Faculties. Currently department offers courses like Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, and History of Bangladesh & Bangladesh Studies. The breadth of the course reflects the blurring of boundaries between the different sciences and encourages students to do great things with new ideas in the next couple of academic years. Fifteen faculty members with two adjunct faculties are working with excellent academic and research background under this department. ‘Enlighten the Nation with the Knowledge of Science’ being the motto of this department, faculties always work in a team with the highest professionalism making it easier to achieve the goal set each year. NS with dynamic leadership often organizes student-oriented creative programs, seminars, & various contests encouraging the students to overcome the fear of science over the year.

Course of mathematics

Mathematics has been fundamental to the development of science and technology. In recent decades, the extent of application of mathematics to real-world problems has increased by leaps and bounds. The present syllabi of B.Sc. have been designed as per the U.G.C Model curriculum so that students learn basic concepts of Mathematics and are exposed to rigorous methods gently and slowly.

MAIN COURSES:

  1. Complex Variable and Laplace Transformation
  2. Differential Equations and Fourier Analysis
  3. Linear Algebra
  4. Matrices and Three Dimensional Coordinate Geometry
  5. Differential and Integral Calculus
  6. Vector Analysis
  7. Numerical Analysis
  8. Business Mathematics
  9. Differential Calculus and Coordinate Geometry

GOALS: Give the students a sufficient knowledge of fundamental principles, methods and a clear perception of innumerous power of mathematical ideas and tools and know how to use them by modeling, solving and interpreting.

OBJECTIVE: Enhancing students overall development and to equip them with mathematical modelingabilities, problem solving skills, creative talent and power of communication necessary or various kinds of employment.

Course of statistics

Statistics courses help the students to know about basic concepts of statistics and to apply in practical fields. After going through these subjects one can know about the quality of data, summarizing and analyzing the data. Knowledge of statistics is very helpful for forecasting.

Course of Physics

Physics, a core discipline, is the fundamental and foremost to all natural sciences. It has been significant and influential through advances in its understanding that have translated in to new technologies. Physics interact with the society and other discipline such as Medicine, Chemistry, Agriculture, Engineering etc. in many important ways. Extra care is taken to pay individual attention to the students in their laboratory work and tutorial sessions. Project work and problem sessions are encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to physics learning.

The goal of the Physics education is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the physical principles of the universe, to help them develop critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills, to empower them to think creatively and critically about scientific problems and experiments. It’s provide training for students and planning careers in physics including research,  teaching, industrial jobs, government jobs or other sectors of our society.

Course of Chemistry

Some years ago, a question occasionally heard was “Whystudy chemistry?”— but no longer. At the core of the naturalsciences, chemistry is crucial to an understanding of molecularbiology, genetics, pharmacology, ecology, atmospheric science, nuclear studies, materials science, and numerous otherfields. Because chemistry is so central to understanding thesefields, it is a core requirement for an increasing number of academic majors. Clearly, the study of chemistry as an integral part of our world is essential. To respond to numerous modern challenges, chemistryis evolving in new directions to design “greener” plasticsand fuels, monitor atmosphere and oceans to model globalwarming, determine our genetic makeup to treat disease, and synthesize nanomaterials with revolutionary properties, among many others.Nevertheless, as the applications change, the basic concepts of chemistry still form the essence of the course. Chemistry deals withall materials, it is a subject of enormous breadth. It would be difficult to exaggeratethe influence of chemistry on modern science and technology or on our ideas aboutour planet and the universe.

Course of History

History of the Emergence of Independent Bangladesh and Bangladesh Studies are introductory courses. The main objective of both courses is to help the student to understand the brief history of Bangladesh and general overall knowledge about the country. These courses focus specifically on how Bangladesh appeared as a sovereign country in world map and our liberation war. It also introduces the students to historical ecological, social, economic, political, government, financial and development aspects of Bangladesh. It also helps the students to know about Bangladesh, its people, origin, area and resources of Bangladesh, government, constitution, politics, administration, policies, economy, foreign policy and foreign relations of Bangladesh.
