Faculty Profile

Md. Arafat Islam is a Lecturer in the Department of Fashion Design & Technology at Port City International University, with over four years of experience in higher education teaching. He also serves as an Assistant Proctor, contributing to academic guidance and student development.

He holds an MA in Fashion Design from Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology and a BSc in Fashion Design and Technology from Port City International University. His teaching focuses on both conceptual and technical aspects of fashion education, including design analysis, product development, visual merchandising, fashion forecasting, and CAD.

His research interests center on textile crafts, cultural sustainability, and community-based fashion practices. His master’s thesis, “The Art of Survival: Textile Crafts of the Bihari Community in Contemporary Context,” examines the relevance of traditional textile crafts within contemporary fashion discourse.
