Department of Journalism & Media Studies of Port City International University (PCIU) organized a seminar titled “Evolution of Development communication for social justice in the 21st century: A brief analysis of models and framework” on January 18, 2020 at PCIU auditorium. Dr. Shrinkhala Upadhyaya, former Assistant Professor, Amity School of Communication, Amity University, Noida, India was present as a keynote speaker whereas Prof. Dr. Md. Nural Anwar grace the program as a chief guest. The seminar was presided over by Ms. Dilruba Akter, chairman of the dept. of Department of Journalism & Media Studies whereas Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sahid Ullah was present as a special guest at the seminar.
Dr. Shrinkhala said at her speech, ‘Participatory communication must be needed for development communication and development support communication need to be included to development communication program to ensure social justice and bring positive change in society’. An interactive session between keynote speaker and students were also conducted after the discussion. Chief guest, special guest and other speakers emphasized on the importance of development communication at their speech. Mr. Jewel Das, Senior Lecturer and ex-chairman of the dept. delivered welcome speech at the inception of the seminar. Keynote speaker was welcomed by floral reception and Chief guest handed over a memento to keynote speaker on behalf of PCIU.
The seminar was anchored by Mr. Aziz Ahmed, Lecturer of the dept. Among others, Mr. Mohammad Younus, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Social Science & Law, Mr. Sana Ulla Hasan, Mr. Prashanta Kumar Shill, Lecturer of the dept. and students were present at the seminar. The seminar was ended with vote of thanks by the chairman. Students were highly motivated through that interactive seminar.
