PCIU Journalism dept. arranged webinar on Development Journalism.
Port City International University arranged a webinar titled ‘Development Journalism in South Asia' on virtual platform.The aim of the webinar was to introduce students about the role and responsibilities of journalism in development.
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Port City International University along with the association of Journalism and Media Studies department organized this webinar on April 12, 2021 using online platform Zoom.Mr. Bidhu Bhusan Dash, Assistant Professor, School of Mass Communication at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), India was the key note speaker of the webinar. Mr. Dash discussed on various theoretical and practical issues of development journalism before the students. He also discussed on the role of journalism in the development of South Asia. Apart from this, end of the speech key note speaker answered different questions of attendee students.
Besides, Professor Dr. Sahid Ullah, coordinator, Journalism and Media Studies department, Port City International University, discussed on the existing challenges and prospects of development Journalism in the context South Asia.
Ms. Dilruba Akter, Chair of Journalism and Media Studies department of Port City International University presided over the session whereas Mr. Jewel Das, Senior lecturer and Ex-chair of the same department was the moderator of whole session. Mr. Mohammad Younus, Dean, faculty of Social Science, Humanities and Law, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Sahid Ullah, was the special guests of the program also.
Among others, around one hundredfaculty members and students of Journalism from Bangladesh and India, were present in the webinar.
