Seminar on Crisis and Resilience of Contemporary Journalism in Chittagong

Department of Journalism & Media Studies arranged a seminar on “Crisis and Resilience of Contemporary Journalism in Chittagong” on 4th February, 2018 at PCIU auditorium. Mr. Samaresh Baidya, Bureau Chief, The Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Chittagong was present as key note speaker in the seminar. Professor Dr. Sahid Ullah, Coordinator of the dept. and profession of Communication & Journalism Dept., University of Chittagong, Mr. Nazimuddin Shayamal, President, Chittagong Journalists Union and Mr. Tazul Islam, Bureau Chief, Maasranga Television were present as discussants. Prof. Dr. Md. Nural Anwar, Vice Chancellor of PCIU inaugurated the Program while Mr. Jewel Das, Chairman of Journalism dept. preside over and Ms. Dilruba Akter, Lecturer of the dept. hosted the seminar. Key note speaker Mr. Samaresh said in his speech” Contemporary journalism has been facing different types of crisis and future journalists should work to resolve from the crisis situation. Mentioning corporate capital as hindrance he also said media are facing pressure from not on government, private censorship but also from corporate world. He emphasized on the resilience of the crisis of contemporary journalism. Honesty, professionalism and practicing ethics can be the best way in the situation. prof. Dr. Md. Nural Anwar, Vice Chancellor, Porf. Dr. Engr. Mafzal Ahmed, Dean, faculty of Science & Engineering, Mr. Obaydur Rahman, Registrar, teachers and students were also present at the seminar.
