Seminar on Big Data: What, Where, Why, and How?

A seminar entitled “Big Data: What, Where, Why, and How?” was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the university auditorium on February 3, 2019. All faculty members and students of the dept. of CSE were present in the seminar. The program was presided by Mr. Sowmitra Das, Chairman, dept. of CSE, PCIU and inaugurated by the chief guest of the program, Prof. Dr. Md. Nural Anwar, Vice Chancellor, Port City International University. Prof. Dr.Engr. Mafzal Ahmed, Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering , was the special guest of the program. Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Professor and Head of Department of CSE, CUET, who is also the president of CUET Teachers Association and Chairman of Bangladesh Computer Society, Chittagong Branch, was the key-note speaker. A floral reception has been given and a memento crest was handed over to the key-note speaker by the honorable vice chancellor.

Honorable speaker had given his valuable speech on sources of Bigdata, its necessity, how can it be processed and research areas related to big data. He also provided knowledge on IoT and also discussed some real cases those were benefitted from big data like, IT system in all major banks and commercial drones in agriculture.

 Mr. Sowmitra Das, Chairman of dept of CSE, thanked the resource person of the seminar for eradicating the fear of working with big data and inspired the students as this seminar will help them to develop their research skills.
